Writing courses at the Abbaye-Chateau de Camon, France In November 2005 I will be hosting the first of a series of writing courses at the delightful Abbaye-Chateau de Camon in the Languedoc area of southern France. The chateau This beautiful building dates from the early tenth century, and over the last few years has been extensively modernised and converted into an hotel. The property was purchased early this year by Peter and Katie Lawton and transformed into a wonderfully welcoming establishment. Peter was formerly the manager of the renowned Samling hotel in the Lake District, and has extensive experience in the hotel and catering professions. For a writer, the hotel offers peace and quite, but at the same time is located in an extremely interesting part of France: not only is it steeped in Cathar and Templar stories and legends, but the mysterious village of Rennes le Chateau - the inspiration behind both The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail and the current best-selling novel The Da Vici Code - is only a short distance away. It lasts for four days, and covers everything from choosing your market to dealing with agents and understanding publishing contracts. There is also an optional fifth day when we can discuss anything to do with the writing or publication process. The course outline is as follows:
